In High School Drumming was my life.....that's right....MY LIFE!!! Through a sequence of events called LIFE I was not able to continue that part of it.
Well, last night I had an EPIC performance. This semester I have been involved in a Panoramic Steel Drum Ensemble on BYU campus. I had the opportunity to stand on the stage of the DeJong Concert Hall and perform for me, my family, my friends, my school, and my God. It was needless to say amazing! A perfect bite I will never forget.
We had a practice earlier in the afternoon and after it was finished I took a minute to stand on the stage alone and let it sink in that I a piece of me had returned. But I am now a better me. Before my injury, I had defined myself as "the drummer" and everyone knew me as such. I now know more fully who I am and what I stand for and being a drummer is something I do and love but it is not who I am. I have learned the difference between Human DOING and Human BEING.
Perhaps that's why I lost the ability in the first place, to discover who Lisanne Murphy really is. Despite the pain of losing the dream, the opportunities is has afforded me are priceless beyond measure. I don't have all the answers and it still hurts, but for this one thing I am grateful today.... My life has Rhythm.

Current Events Distort Perceptions
Ok, so it has been....a......while......since I have written. I shall now continue....
Perfect bite of the day......
I was walking on campus yesterday, yes walking, or should I say sauntering. Along with Henry David Thoreau I too believe that sauntering is an art that ALL should master. Anyways, back to my story. So I was sauntering on campus to my Steel Drum practice. There was this group of young kids from a local school visiting the campus. They were all dressed in school uniform.
The perfect bite is coming....
Now, As the world knows, the new Harry Potter movie just came out this weekend. Now with this background, I was walking up some stairs and passed some people. One of the girls exclaimed, "LOOK!!! A BUNCH OF LITTLE HARRY POTTERS!!! THAT IS SO CUTE!!!!" Now, the friend that was with her looked at her and said, "Uhh, I think those are just kids in school uniforms...." To which the other girl replied, "Oh, right...."
I hope you are laughing. I sure was. I almost tripped on the stairs actually. So there you have it. One of life's perfect bites. It tasted oh so good!
